Mission
Atelier van Faassen is rethinking design to empower a future of complete synergy between humanity, architecture, and design. To create emotion-centric architecture and design.
Position
Architecture and design once served humanity. Yet many spent their lives in an anonymous concrete jungle where despite increased prosperity there is more loneliness and depression than ever. In pursuit of financial profit, we took away the emotion and identity of our buildings and urban structures that served our well-being. Anonymous and emotionless architecture doesn’t serve us anymore but makes us physically and mentally ill, it’s our responsibility to reverse it.
Policy
Atelier van Faassen proposes the creation of design solutions by, for, and through emotion-centric design. This holistic approach demands that we design across scales and industries for systems-level impact.

Today, Babette consults for a variety of private and public institutions on architecture and design, in relation to well-being. She is doing research on emotion-centric design, of which results will be translated into an exhibition, opening this year.
After graduating with honorable mentions at TU Delft, Babette spent several years successfully building her architecture and interior studio, bureau baba. Over time everyday architecture and design jobs became monotonous, and she longed for work with more depth and meaning. Resulting in the research and art-focused atelier van Faassen.
