Mission

Atelier van Faassen bridges architecture, science, and art to create intelligent and intuitive spaces. With a strong foundation in design research and practical experience, we shape environments that support well-being, clarity, and connection.

Position

Architecture and design should actively contribute to how we feel, think, and behave. Atelier van Faassen combines academic insights with hands-on practice to design buildings and interiors that support mental and physical well-being. Our work is guided by purpose, identity, and human experience — creating spaces that are not only functional, but meaningful and resonant.

Policy

Atelier van Faassen develops design solutions grounded in architectural research, neuroscience, and spatial psychology. We approach each project holistically (from interiors to larger systems) to create environments that resonate with people and respond to context.

Today, Babette consults for a variety of private and public institutions on architecture and design. She is doing research on emotion-centric design, of which results will be translated into an exhibition, opening this year.

About Babette van Faassen

After graduating with honors from TU Delft, Babette successfully built her architecture and interior studio, bureau baba. Over time, however, everyday design work began to feel limiting, and she sought projects with more depth and impact. This search led to the founding of Atelier van Faassen — a practice where research, architecture, and art converge.
